Lunch at the root!

-

Arriving at the Root Bridges was a feat for us all and yet it was mostly downhill! We were all tempted to buy local honey from the snack stand half way down …. especially since they advertised that they delivered! Just passed a small village and tea stall laid our awaited view… the Living Root Bridges. They were as spectacular as one would expect, but with some modern renovations to preserve both the bridges and the surrounding environment. The double decker bridges, hundreds of years old, were worn, yet sturdy and strong. With increased knowledge of the area, we wondered how long the bridges would stay open for visitors to freely cross in the years to come. Our guides and staff prepared a wonderful traditional Indian meal and thanks to Tamara we all experienced some very spicy chilli achaar!
